Disney World with Kids at Thanksgiving
4 Parks in 4 Days, Itinerary & Honest Review
Walt Disney World Orlando Itinerary, Genie+ Tips, and What to Expect
Living in Southern California, we’re lucky to have easy access to Disneyland and have visited many times. But we’d always heard that Walt Disney World in Orlando is on a completely different scale. As Disney fans, we wanted to experience it at least once — especially while the kids are still excited about it.
So we went all in: four days, four parks during Thanksgiving break. It was intense, exhausting, and absolutely unforgettable.
Each day easily exceeded 10,000 steps. By nighttime, we were completely worn out, but still pushing through for the fireworks.
Florida Weather in November (What to Expect)
Late November in Florida still feels like summer. We were wearing short sleeves the entire trip. No wonder the state is so popular with retirees.
The only downside? Humidity. It felt sticky and heavy at times. If you’re not used to it, it can be uncomfortable, although for some of us, it felt manageable.
Time Difference & Jet Lag Tips
The three-hour time difference from California turned out to be harder than expected.
Mornings were rough. Our younger one was sleepy and grumpy, barely functioning. But by afternoon, he was fully recharged and ready to go.
The upside? We never missed any nighttime shows. Fireworks, projections, and parades were all easy to handle and the kids stayed energetic well past bedtime.
Genie+ Strategy for Thanksgiving Crowds
If you're visiting Walt Disney World during Thanksgiving, Genie+ is essential.
Standby lines can reach 3 to 4 hours for popular rides. And this is not an exaggeration during peak holiday weeks.
Our strategy:
- Buy Genie+ right at midnight for the next day
- Book the first Lightning Lane at 7:00 AM sharp
- Stack rides throughout the day
We didn’t get the Avatar ride reservation, but we used Rider Switch to avoid long waits.
By the end of the trip, we had figured it out. We barely waited in long lines and managed to experience most major attractions.
4 Parks in 4 Days: Park-by-Park Strategy
Doing all four parks at Walt Disney World in four days during Thanksgiving break is intense, but with the right strategy, it’s doable. Here’s how we approached each park, what worked, and what we’d do differently.
Magic Kingdom – Classic Disney, Biggest Crowds

This is the most iconic park — and also the most crowded. If you're traveling with kids, this will likely be your top priority. Luckily, for us, we have a similar one in Southern California. So we went easy on this one.
Strategy: Arrive early and use Genie+ aggressively. Prioritize high-demand rides in the morning.
- Must-do rides: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight
- Best for kids: Fantasyland area (Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World)
- Tip: Save fireworks for the end - it's definitely worth staying late
This park took the most energy. Expect long lines, heavy crowds, and lots of walking, but also more classical “Disney magic.”
EPCOT – More Relaxed, Better Food

EPCOT felt very different from the other parks - it was more open, less crowded (relatively), and more food-focused.
Strategy: Take it slower here. It’s a good “recovery day” in a packed itinerary.
- Must-do rides: Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Test Track
- Best part: World Showcase (different countries, unique snacks and experiences). While interesting, some representations — especially of Asian cultures — felt outdated and not very reflective of modern reality.
- Tip: Book popular rides early, as lines can quickly get long by midday
We found this park less stressful and more enjoyable pace-wise.
Hollywood Studios – Small but Intense

This park has some of the most popular rides but is relatively compact, so wait times can stack up fast.
Strategy: Plan carefully. Genie+ and early booking are critical here.
- Must-do rides: Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror
- Tip: Try to secure your Lightning Lane early, as these rides can sell out quickly
This was one of the most stressful parks in terms of planning, but also one of the most exciting.
Animal Kingdom – Best Balance Day

This park surprised us in a good way. It felt less crowded and a lot more relaxed compared to the others.
Strategy: Start early and you can finish most major attractions by afternoon.
- Must-do rides: Avatar Flight of Passage, Na’vi River Journey, Kilimanjaro Safaris
- Tip: Go to Pandora early, since this area gets crowded quickly
This was probably the easiest day logistically and also a nice break from the intensity of other parks.
Food at Disney World (What to Know)
Food inside the parks gets repetitive quickly, mostly pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and very salty “Asian-style” meals.
After a few days, we were seriously craving something better.
On our last night, we found a hot pot buffet outside the park, and it completely saved the trip. Unlimited seafood, beef, and lamb made a huge difference.
It was affordable too — around $28 for adults and about $12 for kids. The price is so much better than in California.
Final Thoughts
Visiting 4 parks in 4 days can be accomplished, but it’s intense and requires planning.
Thanksgiving is one of the busiest times of the year, so expect crowds, long days, and sometimes stressful logistics. Despite all that, the experience still feels magical, especially for kids.
The fireworks were absolutely the highlight every single night.
If we were to do it again, we’d probably slow down the pace and build in a rest day, but otherwise we were pretty satisfied.
